For the Beauty of Your Soul awaits in the corners of your Dreams…Karen Davie
Since I was a little girl I’ve always had a deep connection with animals as well as insects and my parents would often find me in the garden immersed in the natural world of caterpillars, lady bugs, butterflies and the very special dragonfly.
To me the dragonfly is a symbol of transformation, emotional release, healing and renewal Spiritually they embody the stripping away of density and negativity the internal stuff that holds us back from achieving our heartfelt dreams and goals.
Dragonflies have an amazing natural cycle where they begin their life underwater as nymphs living completely immersed in this underworld feeding on leaf litter and small fish. During the beginning stages of a dragonfly’s life it undertakes many transformations shedding its skin, yet each time as it matures it still remains immersed in the dark as a nymph.
At a destined moment in its life cycle a sleeping gene is awakened and the nymph does something totally out of character, it climbs out of the water often making its way to a high dry leaf to take in air and direct sunlight. The warmth of the sun cracks open the outer larval skin revealing four spiralled wings and a unique slender thorax.
As the developing dragonfly rises out of the element of Water and prepares to be reborn in the element of Air it is the water that still lies within its body that is vital to the transformation process. Through a process of hydraulics, the water within the nymphs’ body is pumped into the emerging wings and thorax causing them to spread and unfurl for the first time. As soon as all of the water is expended and the dragonfly is fully extended, it takes to the air to begin its new life.
The evolution of the dragonfly reflects how we too undertake a similar destiny. As humans we can empower the raw creative energy of our emotions and use this as a vehicle to grow and unfurl new realities. Dragonflies inspire spirituality and creativity reminding us that anything is possible if only we BELIEVE IT IS SO. By having the courage to look within we can heal and move forward and just like the dragonfly transpire and shed with the intention to exist forever on a higher lighter vibrational plane.
